This session (10:00-10:50) will provide an overview of the current science and psychology behind the risks and benefits of digital technologies, particularly smartphones and social-media. There will be an emphasis on the mental-health impact and potential risks to children and youth since they are one of the most vulnerable user-groups according to a growing body of research. A summary of all research and sources cited in this presentation will also be provided.

Session Two: Social-Media & Well-being

This session (11:00-11:50) will provide an overview of the current science and psychology demonstrating how smartphone and social-media technologies can be used to foster happiness and well-being. Evidence from "A Facebook Strategy For Well-Being" (Masters Thesis) will also be presented. A summary of all research and sources cited in this presentation will also be provided.

Technology Zen - Tips & Strategies

Session Three: Practical Tips & Strategies

This session (12:00-12:50) will provide practical tips and suggestions for using smartphones and social-media in a manner which reduces their potential mental-health risks, while increasing their potential for healthy and positive outcomes, including increased well-being. If there is time, there will also be a brief overview of how smartphone and social-media use is being successfully managed by teachers/schools.
